MPACT OF KVK

1. Village coverage under KVK activities:

Out of the 118 villages across 9 blocks in the district, the Kendra has conducted its activities in 84 villages resulting in a coverage of 72.20% villages.

2. Increase in cropping intensity:

The Kendra is putting efforts to increase cropping intensity in the district by introducing short-duration varieties, crop diversification, advanced production techniques, conducting Frontline demonstrations and need based training and extension activities. The cropping intensity of the district, since the establishment of Kendra, has increased to an extent of 120 %

3. Area under high yielding variety:

The Kendra has demonstrated location specific yield yielding varieties of crops and vegetables and these are cultivated in an area of approximately 403.1 ha involving 5439 farming households.

4. Increase in farmer’s income:

New breeds and strains of poultry have been introduced in the district and these are reared by about 102 small and marginal farmers. Poultry rearing, in addition to normal household activities result in an additional income to the tune of  7.00%. Further, production of mushroom and value added products are being carried out by 87 households resulting in an additional income of 5.00%.
